South Texas Worlds of Work — Career Exploration Event

On Friday, September 18, 2026, Workforce Solutions Lower Rio, in partnership with South Texas College, will host the South Texas Worlds of Work — Jobs Y'all, a first-of-its-kind youth career exploration event from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the STC Technology Campus in McAllen. We've already confirmed over 1,500 students from more than 10 Rio Grande Valley school districts — and we want your company in the room. South Texas Worlds of Work is a hands-on, immersive career exploration experience — not a hiring event. We need employers who are excited to show students what your work actually looks and feels like. We are specifically inviting 8th graders and 12th graders at a pivotal point in their academic journey.

What Your Participation Looks Like
- Design a hands-on activity that gives students a real taste of your field — a mini-task, simulation, demo, or interactive experience tied to the actual work your team does.
- Each activity should be completable in 2 to 5 minutes — small groups of students will rotate through your station continuously throughout each session.
- Be ready for short, engaging conversations with 8th and 12th graders — answer their questions, share your story, and connect what they're seeing to real career opportunities.
- Participate across three 2-hour sessions throughout the day (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM). Groups of 500 students rotate through so all 1,500 students experience every employer booth.
- Plan for setup the day before (Thursday, Sept. 17) or arrive on-site by 7:00 AM on Friday, September 18 to have your booth, display, and activity ready before students arrive at 9:00 AM.
Please note that breakfast and lunch will be provided.
